How to Think Organized...Erp

My friend and fellow Westtown School Alum who is a most excellent speech and language therapist specializing on helping people with organizational issues has a new course. It is important and well worth considering for all and any writers, thinkers, tinkerers, and anyone else.

An explanation: By organized this is not Mary Kondo. This is how to organize your thoughts so that you can effectively communicate them to others. People on the spectrum and many other disorders often struggle with this but so too do people who aren’t identified with one of these attributes.

All of us think in ways and patterns that make it impossible to either see the trees for the forest or the forest for the trees.

What Kim excels at is helping ALL OF US see what we need to see when we need to see it how we can best see it so that we can effectively communicate it.

She describes the course thusly:

Organizing from the Bottom Up is a hands-on, independently guided course that gets to the root of organization difficulty by exposing the structure and process of organization. As you progress in the course, you will  understand where your past organizational attempts have gone awry and how to more efficiently and effectively direct your organizational efforts in the future. New knowledge in hand, you will look at your piles of papers differently, see new potential for follow-through when planning projects, and finally understand how to corral your ideas, so you can write them down and share them with the world.

“This course is designed for people who struggle with organization, want help, but bristle at the thought of someone giving them a planner or a graphic organizer and their thinking that a tool will do the trick.

“Some course participants will have a diagnosed disorder of attention, executive function, processing speed, or written language. Others might suspect one, and still others might just be interested in knowing more. But for those of you smart, possibly even gifted people out there who are scratching your head about why organization is so easy for some and so ridiculously hard for others: Welcome. This course was made for you.”
