K.M. Weiland: Why I Write

I think it's important for writers to hear the voices of other writers, especially those with careers in different areas of the writing world or who are, like all of us, working to improve their writing and/or establish themselves as a writer.

I've been asking these folks a simple and relatively common question, which is to ask them why they write. We've heard from the greats in many forms ad nauseam, now lets hear from those who are working toward greatness.

The first is K.M. Weiland:

"Stories are like breathing. Life without a story in my head is one-dimensional, stagnant, vapid. I love the life God has given me, but I think I love it better because I’m able to live out so many other lives on the page. I’m more content to be who I am because I’m not trapped in that identity. When I sit down at my computer and put my fingers on the keys, I can be anyone or anything, at any time in history. I write because it’s freedom."
